Fitness Gift Guide

#1  My favorite gift I have gotten this year has to be my Apple Watch.  I just got the Series 1 because it accomplished the things I wanted it to do.  I love it for monitoring your Heart Rate and counting calories while exercising.  It gives you daily and weekly calorie burning and fitness goals.

#2  Give the true gift of fitness by getting someone a membership to ClassPass.  Check out my blog post on how this program has mixed up my fitness routine and made me try so many new classes: Class Pass Blog Post.  Here is a Code for $40 off your first month.

#3  If you want to get a spike in heart rate anytime, anywhere, try this Ropeless Jump Rope.  Not only is this super easy to take anywhere, but I am a terrible jump roper, so this makes it much easier for me to get tripped up.

#4  Water, water, water!  I am a huge advocate for drinking as much water as possible every day.  If this means adding a little flavor to help you do so, then by all means add some flavor!  Give lemon or cucumber a try, since those are also diuretics. This Infusion Water Bottle makes it easy to give a little extra kick to your water.

#5  The Clocky Alarm Clock is the best way to get you up and out of bed for those 5 or 6 AM workouts.  This little guy will jump off your night stand and make you chase it to make sure you are up and moving.  Its so hard to get motivated in the morning, especially when its cold, so let this nifty alarm clock give you a jump start!

#6  For the Yogi in your life, check out a Yoga Mat Carrier.  This makes it so convenient for you to grab your mat and go, and not have to always re-roll your mat up.  You can use the code CRYSTALJAR50 for 20% this or anything on Carbon 38 website.

#7  Here is one of my favorite and functional Yoga Mats.

#8  I have tried every dry shampoo on the market...literally.  Amanda got me on the Dry Bar Dry Shampoo, and it is really the best one.  Great to pack in that gym bag to get your hair back on point after those workouts.

#9  These Invisibobble Hair Ties are the best things I have found to keep the crease out of your hair.  I have super thin hair and it works great even on me!

#10  Its all about that bass and music motivation to get your workout going.  Bose Headphones are the best way to get you moving.

Old Navy for the Win!

Happy Monday lovelies!  If you are like me you are a bit overwhelmed that Thanksgiving is this week.  I love the holidays, but tend to get stressed out trying to fit in everything, plus work and be a mom #thestruggleisreal.  However, I do get an insane amount of joy from finding major shopping deals and this is week to do it!

This has to be my hands down, fave steal right now!  I bought this faux leather with faux shearling collar jacket last winter from Nordstrom.  If it was possible to wear something every single, damn day it would be this!  I got many compliments and questions from friends and strangers asking where to buy it, but sadly it was discontinued.

Then I stumbled upon this most perfect dupe at Old Navy!  The price tag is much much better than what I had to fork over, so take full advantage!  This would make an excellent gift as well.

Old Navy really is killing it this winter with their styles and of course their price points.  I've also been eyeing this shaggy faux fur coat, and these on trend velvet booties

They are offering a pre-party to Black Friday with 40% off of regular priced items (excludes sale items) until November 21st.  You do not need to enter a code, the discount will be active at checkout.

I linked some other items I'm crushing on - many that would make great gifts!

Holiday Party Dressing

Holiday parties are rapidly approaching!  I actually already attended a work party for my hubby and wore this statement skirt.  The great thing about wearing a fun skirt is that you can pair the rest of the outfit with easy neutrals and look put together.

I absolutely love holiday parties and dressing up!  We live in a day and age where people don't dress up as much, so its fun to have an excuse to get dolled up.  Getting ready for holiday parties should be fun! I love to blast music with my kids, and of course, festive cocktails help!

This skirt caught my eye a couple of months ago and I snagged it when it went on sale!  You can't beat the $45 price tag.  The beautiful floral organza + peplum ruffle detail is perfect for making a statement.  I've been a huge fan of Rachel Parcell's blog for a long time and was thrilled when she came out with her own clothing line.  Her pieces are timeless, but still have a wow factor!

I paired the skirt with my tried and true Gap sleeveless mockneck top.  It goes with everything and who can forget when Sharon Stone won the Oscar's the year she wore a Gap turtleneck?!  I also teamed up this look with my fave  on trend Vanessa Mooney knotted tassel earrings and the sweetest Mansur Gavriel mini bag.  For extra warmth throw on this money saver black faux fur from H&M!

I also linked some other holiday pretties to get you through the party circuit!

Staying Healthy During the Holidays

Shop the Look

We all know that this time of the year is super hard to stay on track with healthy eating and exercise.  With all of the holiday parties, boozing and events centered around food it can be very tough to stay the course.  I'll be honest, I usually get off track a bit as well.  Here are 4 easy hacks on how to stay fit during the holidays.

1). Plan a workout/activity tradition on the holidays.  There are so many Turkey Trots and fun runs that are family friendly. Make it  an annual tradition, and find an activity you can do as a family. Most fitness studios have a class on these days, especially Thanksgiving.  My husband and I sometimes go to his Crossfit class together, or I go do a Yoga class.  I actually look forward to being off work and getting a good sweat on.  I feel like this gets you motivated for the day!

2).  Start your morning off right!  If you know you are going to be eating a lot during the day, or more indulgent than normal, start your morning off super healthy.  Try some egg whites and veggies, or a shake for breakfast.  There is no reason to be unhealthy all day long, right?

3). Try not to drink too many calories.  You know I am all about only drinking calories if there is booze involved.  And if you are using a mixer, try to stick with soda water, or my favorite La Croix.  There are also tons of low sugar, wine options available.  A few of my favorites are, Skinnygirl cocktails, Dry Farm Wines and FitVine wines.

4).  If you are in charge of a dish - make it healthy!  We know there will be plenty of options that are not healthy, why not make yours something you know you will eat?  I do not cook, so I am always looking for something super easy.  Give this Trader Joe's Riced Cauliflower Stuffing a try!

5).  Fill your plate up mostly with the healthy stuff, and try to get full on that.  Turkey (no gravy), ham, green bean casserole (try to avoid the crispy onions), and salad are always a good go to.

I know we are not going to be perfect during the holidays, but why wait until January to get back on track?  The closer you stay on track the easier it is to get back on track.

Have a healthy and happy holiday season!

Get your "Booties" to work

Sorry for the cheesy title, but I couldn't resist! This post is all about wearing booties with your work attire. I get asked on a daily basis about how to style your wardrobe with booties, and specifically for the work day. People don't seem as intimidated to pair booties with jeans, but when it comes to the workplace there is some hesitation.

When wearing a dress or skirt, I like to wear a bootie with a notch detail.  This cut out detail shows off your ankle, giving a more elongated look.  This bootie style also looks great with jeans or pants, which makes it extremely versatile.

These Sole Society booties have been on heavy repeat since I purchased them last fall.  You can't beat the price tag, and they come in several colors.  The gray and wine colors are currently on sale for $52!

When wearing a straight across more traditional bootie style like this Steve Madden block heel, I like to pair those with a cropped pant.  Again, showing off a bit of skin helps with a sleek silhouette.  Can you tell I'm obsessed with gray booties?!  But seriously, you can't go wrong with this hue because you can pair with black or brown.

Some of my fave cropped pants for work are the Old Navy pixie ankle pants.  They are super flattering and easy to wear with booties or heels.  They come in tons of fun colors and textures.

Currently crushing  on these velvet pixie pants!
