What to Order at Starbucks

Something about being freezing cold outside makes me want to go to Starbucks.  Somehow that cup of coffee makes the winter time a litter better.  But if you are not careful, you can load up on some unwanted calories.  I am always searching (and being super annoying and asking questions) the Starbucks menu for some lower sugar options.

The important thing to try and stay away from lots of milk and all the flavorings.  They do have some Sugar Free Flavoring options (Vanilla, Caramel, Cinnamon Dolce and Mocha) which can be a good substitute to cut calories.

ALMOND MILK is the best option as far as sugar and calories go.  They don't have an unsweetened milk option, so the Almond Milk is the next best thing.  Reasons to love Starbucks Almond milk: Lowest sugar content, you taste your espresso more, it doesn’t contain carageenan, and it even has 1 gram of fiber!

Nutritional info per cup for Starbucks Milk options (per 8 oz)

Almond milk: 60 calories, 4g fat, 5 carbs, 1,gram fiber (yay) and 3.5 grams of sugar

Coconut Milk: 8.5 grams sugar 60 calories

Nonfat Milk: 13 grams of sugar, but less calories than whole and 2% at 60 calories

Soy: 13.5 grams sugar, 135 calories

2% Milk:  12.5 grams of sugar, 130 calories

Whole Milk: 12.5 grams of sugar, 160 calories

Go to orders:

Cappuccino with Almond Milk and one pump Sugar Free Vanilla (the Cappuccino is better than a Latte because it is made with less milk)

Iced green tea with no sweetener and 1 scoop of matcha (the matcha is a little sweetened)

Iced Coffee Splash of Almond Milk and 1-2 pumps Sugar Free Vanilla

Sugar Free Vanilla Latte with Almond Milk

Americano with 1-2 pumps of Sugar Free Vanilla.  I like to have my Nutpods handy and mix them in

Sugar Free Cinnamon Dulce Latte with Almond Milk

Sugar Free Mocha Latte with Almond Milk

Coffee sweetened with Sugar Free Mocha

Iced London Fog Tea Latte with Almond Milk and Sugar Free Vanilla

It probably goes without saying but always no whip cream please. If you like the consistency of the Frappacinos you can always order your latte the good way and have them blend with with ice.

Check out my What's in my Coffee Post to see what I put in my coffee at home.

Hope this helps and you become an annoying Starbucks orderer just like me :)

Healthy Snacks Idea

Happy New Year everyone!  I know we all try to refocus at the beginning of the year and get motivated to be healthy.  I think one of the hardest things is trying to find snacks that are satisfying, as well as healthy.  It's a hard task to do but here are some ideas + things that I go to!

You can find most of these under our Shop Amazon tab on the blog.  I get so many of my healthy treats on here, and I will update it as I find more goodies.

I feel like a broken record but my goal in eating is always: lower carb, higher fiber, lower fat and low sugar.  I am not big on counting anything: it has always stressed me out and made me obsess over what I am eating more than I need to.  I do try and get around 30 grams of fiber per day.  Once you know what foods have high fiber and eat them, you really do not have to focus on the actual number.

Snack Options:

GG Crackers:  I talk about them all the time.  They are a great option to use for making a sandwich with.  You can add toppings to this as well.  Turkey Pepperoni and cheese, Hummus, Salsa, Avocado spread.

Whisps: I love these little Parmesan crisps packed with lots of flavors and low in carbs.  I also dip them in salsa and use them like a chip

Turkey Pepperoni: I usually get the Boar's Head brand

Low Fat String Cheese

Low Fat Cottage Cheese:  I mix mine with salsa to make it more tasty!

Almonds: Try and choose unsalted- I also use almonds for dipping in hummus

Deli turkey:  I just grab a slice and put some mustard on it.

Ole Low Carb Wraps: I live by these. High in fiber and delish!  You can make your sandwiches with them or put anything on them you like.  My bread substitute

Tuna Fish: I like to make a large batch and just have it to snack on our put on a GG cracker.  I make it with one egg, dijon mustard, and a small scoop of low sugar relish

Sea Weed Crisps: Great snack to keep in your car

Yogurt: Always make sure you check the sugar count.  I try to stay around 5 grams of sugar.  I like the Oikos Triple Zero or the Greek Light and Fit

Quest Chips

Quest Bars

No Cow Bars: High in fiber and great tasting!

I also recommend taking a daily Digestive Enzyme Supplement.  Amanda and I are both loving this one!

Also check out my Healthy Foods On the Go post to see good ordering options at fast food places.  I am not one for cooking with our busy schedule and traveling, so I use Paleo Works food delivery for my dinners!

Ready for you 2019.  Let's do this!

XOXO,
Crystal

JoyLab - Affordable Activewear

If you are in need of affordable but cute activewear than look no further than Target's line: JoyLab.  Ringing in a new year often means that people are more focused on getting fit.  People tend to work out more if they have pieces that they feel comfortable in combined with stylish aspects!

Crew Neck Sweatshirt in Dusty Pink + Leggings (old- linked similar pair) + APL sneakers

We have posted about this amazing crew neck sweatshirt with side slits so many times!  It's honestly what made us fall in love with the line when it first came out.  We adore it so much that we both own multiple colors!  We both wear a size Medium (recommend sizing up) which give more length in the sleeves and the mid-line.  It is really the best sweatshirt ever!

Crystal loves to throw this on before or after teaching her Yoga Sculpt class!

Amanda wore her fave Sweatshirt almost everyday on her trip to Disney!

These leggings are anything but basic with the fun tie detail!

Sherpa Pullover + Shoes
This pullover works for inside and outside the gym!  Most of their pieces offer this versatility.

All in all this line is full of fun colors and comes in all shapes and sizes (great plus-size options).  You can't beat a line that is fun + comfy + affordable!
